High School Offers Are Here!

Dear family,

High school offers are here and waitlists are open for students entering ninth or tenth grade in fall 2022.

Applicants with MySchools accounts can view their offer letters online now; families can also get their letters from their school counselor or a Family Welcome Center

A high school offer letter includes:

  • Up to one offer from the high school application process, a list of programs where the student has been waitlisted (if applicable), and information about waitlists;
  • Any LaGuardia High School results, if the student auditioned, including up to one offer to each program they auditioned; and
  • Any testing Specialized High School results, if the student took the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), including their SHSAT score and up to one offer to a testing Specialized High School. SHSAT results were previously sent to families in April.

**Please note that the nine Specialized High Schools, including LaGuardia High School, do not have waitlists.**

Next Steps:

  • If a student receives one offer, it is automatically accepted––there’s nothing else they need to do.
  • If a student receives more than one offer, they have until June 24 to choose between them.
  • Families can also (optionally) participate in the waitlist process. Schools use waitlists to fill available seats between when offers are made and waitlists close. There are two ways a student can be on a waitlist:
    • Automatically, before waitlists open. If an applicant’s offer is not to their first-choice program, they are automatically on the waitlist for any program listed higher on their application than the program where they’ve received an offer—learn more.
    • Added by parent/guardian, while waitlists are open. Families can (optionally) add their children to additional programs’ waitlists.

If a school can make waitlist offers, they will contact applicants directly; students who get a waitlist offer will have one week to choose between their current offer and the waitlist offer.
