We had a technical error with the Queens parent conference registration link that you received this morning.

Sorry about that. Here’s the working registration link for our free conference on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UFT’s Queens borough office at 118-35 Queens Blvd.

We’ll have two workshop sessions with seven choices of topics, speakers including author Torrance Hampton and State Assembly Member Catalina Cruz. There will also be breakfast, lunch, child care, raffle prizes and more. I hope you’ll join us.

Free child care services for Queens families Qualifying families can get free child care support services, including enrollment assistance, family support, application advocacy, day care placement and parenting events and workshops, for infants and toddlers from the Queens Community House Child Care Network. Grant funding for PTAs National PTA is giving away more than $600,000 in grant funding to 500 local PTAs this year for projects addressing online safety, arts education, health and STEM programs. Grants start at $1,000 and go up to $2,500. PTAs of all sizes and localities can qualify. Learn more and apply
FAFSA opened on Oct. 1 The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program, through which students can receive federal grants, loans and work-study jobs to help fund college, opened this month. The sooner that families fill out the FAFSA form, the better their chances are to receive aid, since some of it is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Low-cost recreation centers The City Parks Department features recreation centers, including five in Queens, with low membership fees between $100 and $150 per year. Most facilities have a pool, gym, fitness classes and other spaces. They’re much cheaper than a gym membership, and offer more programs to families. Find out more
