Dear families,
If your child was born in 2019, they can attend pre-K in fall 2023! Before the pre-K application opens in late January, we encourage you to explore pre-K programs in the MySchools public directory.
Did you know that there are also half day options and charter schools that offer an NYC DOE Pre-K program?
- Half day program options are offered at some NYCEECs (New York City Early Education Centers), however seats are limited. They follow a separate admissions process – you can contact individual NYCEECs directly to find out how to apply.
- Some charter schools also offer pre-K programs. You can contact the individual charter school directly for information about their enrollment deadline and how to apply.
Families can search for both program options in the pre-K directory on MySchools. Since they have separate admissions processes, you can apply to charter or half day programs, and also participate in the general pre-K admissions process through MySchools.
As a reminder, join us at our virtual events on elementary admissions on January 12, 26, February 1, or 15. For event details, visit our website. In the weeks ahead, we’ll send a series of updates and reminders, including highlights of other pre-K program settings for you to determine the best fit for your child and family.
