High School Students Leadership Opportunity – Be a DOE Student Wellness Advocate
If you know aspiring advocates, especially from communities that have been historically marginalized, underserved, and underrepresented, check out the 2022-2023 Student Wellness Advocates flyer. Student Wellness Advocates will engage with City leaders in Spring 2023 to learn more about the DOE Citywide Wellness Policy   and share ideas and experiences on policy improvements. Access the flyer for a link to the application on the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) website, and apply by the extended deadline of Monday, December 19th, 2022. For questions, email wellnesspartnerships@schools.nyc.gov

El Barrio Bikes: Eliminating Barriers to Biking in East Harlem
El Barrio Bikes was featured in a video with @cdcgov’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion showcasing our shared work to advance health equity and address the social determinants of health and structural inequities. This and other videos are featured on a new CDC webpage designed for members of the public, partners, and public health practitioners to highlight the critical work of our partners in communities across the nation.

Big thank you to @timeofdaymedia for filming, CDC and Creating Healthy Schools and Communities for their support of community health initiatives, @weoutnyc, @GiselleCommunity Board 11, and our other incredible ride leaders and for their work, and the many partners that make El Barrio Bikes possible (like @thebrownbikegirl who trained all our ride leaders!) We are grateful to be able to continue our work to support and advocate for equity and active living in El Barrio.
