NYS Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) Closes Friday, January 20, 2023 at 9:00p State of New York Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) ends on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 9:00p. There is still time to apply if you are behind on rent. Applying for ERAP will not just potentially get you back rent, but it will also protect you from evictions and rent increases. If you have missed even one rent payment or only paid partial rent for the place you currently live, you may be eligible to get rental assistance. APPLY FOR ERAP HERE ERAP Eligibility – Household gross income is at or below 80% of the area median income (either current monthly income OR calendar year 2020.) Household Size 1 person 2 person 3 person 4 person 5 person 6 person Gross income $66,850 $76,400 $85,950 $95,450 $103,100 $110,750 A household member received unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in income, incurred high costs or experienced financial hardship, directly or indirectly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A member of the household owes past due rent at their current residence. The household is at risk of homelessness or housing instability, which can be demonstrated by having rental arrears owed on or after March 13, 2020. **Important: There are NO immigration status requirements to qualify for this program ** What will it cover? This assistance can pay up to 12 months of past-due rent and for some households up to 3 months for future rent. What you need to apply: – Personal identification – Proof of rental amount – Proof of residency and occupancy – Proof of income to document income eligibility If you have missed a rent payment, paid partial rent on (or after) March 13, 2020, AND have not already received 12 months of back rent, we encourage you to apply.
