Dear Families,
As you’re working on building your child’s Pre-K application, we encourage you to take advantage of the filters on the Pre-K MySchools Directory. Filters are useful in customizing your search to find choices that meet your family needs and preferences. For example:
- Other Admissions Grades: If you have other children who are participating in admissions for other grades, use this filter to only view schools that are included in another DOE admissions process (for example, 3-K or kindergarten). These programs are also a great option for families for who want their child to continue in the same school for multiple years.
- Seat Type: If you only want to view programs that offer a particular seat type your child is eligible for, filter for School Day seats or Year-Round options (Extended Day and Year or Head Start) under More Filters.
- School Day seats open to all NYC children born in 2019. These programs run for 6 hours and 20 minutes per day during the school year and many offer early drop off or late pickup services for a fee; use the More Filters option to see these programs.
- Year-Round options are free or low cost and provide up to 10 hours of early education and care daily, all year including the summer. Families must meet income and need eligibility requirements for these seats. To learn more please visit the website at nyc.gov/prek.
- There’s lots more you can filter on, including programs with Dual Language, language supports and Diversity in Admissions priorities for certain applicants under More Filters.
