Happening Now! Citywide Title 1 Parent Advisory Committee (CITI-PAC)

Greetings, 

I hope this email finds you well. Please remind the Title 1 chairperson or alternate within your network to join this important remote meeting happening today at 5PM or to plan for next one by using the registration link below. 

  1. CITIPAC Meetings 
  1. The meeting scheduled for Feb. 13 has been canceled. Our next meeting will be held on February 27, at 5:00 p.m. (virtually via Zoom). At this meeting there will be a professional learning session on ‘Miracle Morning.” Materials for this session will be addressed to the DPAC Chair’s name in care of the Superintendent and mailed to each District Office during the first week of February to give you an opportunity to preview the books in advance of the February 27th meeting.  
  2. The remaining CITI-PAC meetings for this school year will continue to take place virtually. The general registration link can be used by PAC Chairs to register for the meetings. DPAC Chairs have received a personal link to these meetings. Note: A reminder with the personal link is sent to DPAC Chairs 2-3 days before a scheduled meeting The remaining meeting dates are as follows: 
  1. February 27 (changed from March 6) 
  2. March 27 
  3. April 24 
  4. May 22 
  5. June 26 
  1. Current Priorities for PACs: 
  2. Bylaws – PACs and DPACs should be reviewing their bylaws to ensure they meet the current needs of the PAC and follow the guidelines provided in the NYCDOE’s Protocols-and-Timeline-for-Required Title I Parent and Family Engagement Activities for SY’2022-23 document. A sample bylaws template for PAC and DPAC can be found in the Google Folder provided for DPAC Chairs. Bylaws should include at a minimum the sections found in the sample template. Keep in mind the following: 
  1. Length of Term – A term can be one (1) or two (2) years. 
  2. Term – The term is from July 1 – June 30 (regardless of when the election takes place). 
  3. The bylaws should specify how your PAC will conduct elections. 
  4. The bylaws should specify how your PAC will select a successor if an officer steps down in the middle of the term. 
  1. PAC and SLT Meetings – During the month of February, your PAC and SLT should: 
  1. Finalize jointly agreed upon spending plans for the use of Title I 1% parent and family engagement set-aside funding. Note: The available Title I 1% set-aside amounts for each school are listed in Column X and Column AC in Table 2 – Title I Allocation Per Capita Details in School Allocation Memorandum (SAM) No. 11.   
  2. Engage with your principal and the school operations liaison to identify vendors and create purchase orders for the activities to be supported with the Title I 1% parent and family engagement set-aside funding. Your school can also reach out to your Senior Grants Officer (SGO)  or your Family Leadership Coordinator (FLC)  at the district for additional assistance. 
  3. Facilitate the planning and execution of Title I parent and family engagement activities as identified in the schools Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP). 
  1. Budget and Purchasing Guidelines – Provided below are this year’s purchasing deadlines. 
  1. February 15: Last day to place major furniture and computer equipment orders; classroom and computer lab purchases must be completed by this date. 
  2. March 3: Last day for budget modifications in Galaxy. 
  3. April 3: Last day for to place orders for supplies, materials, and professional services.    
  1. Office Hours – I will host virtual office hours sessions for the next three (3) weeks on Wednesdays (February 1, 8, and 15) from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. to provide additional assistance to PACs and DPACs, where needed, and answer any questions. Meeting details for each office hours session are provided below.
