CityLimits.org – APPLY NOW: Paid Journalism Training Workshops for NYC High School Students

Good morning,

I hope you are doing well.

The City Limits Accountability Reporting Initiative for Youth (CLARIFY), with the CUNY Journalism Council and Press Pass NYC, is now taking applications from New York City high school students for two paid journalism training workshops this summer in Brooklyn and Queens.

This is an in-person opportunity for New York City high school students who will be trained in the essential tenets of reporting and news writing. Participants will work with instructors on locally-focused stories about important New York City issues, with the chance to see their work published in City Limits.

The summer 2023 training camps will take place in person from July 17 – July 27, Mondays to Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Candidates can apply for the program at one of two locations: CUNY’s Brooklyn College and CUNY’s York College in Queens.

Those who perform successfully in the program will earn a $400 stipend.

Eligibility requirements:
Applicants must reside within New York City, and be entering either their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school (10th, 11th and 12th grades) in the fall of 2023. They should have an interest in writing and current events, and should be curious about the world around them.

To apply, submit the application before the deadline of June 15, 2023.
