Hi there,

Please be advised that the New York City Council Committee on Education will hold a hearing on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Committee Room at City Hall, New York, New York 10007 and via Zoom web conference, on the following legislation:

·         Int. No. 121 (Salamanca, Jr.), a Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of education to report annually on the number of teachers, administrators and school staff who have completed therapeutic crisis intervention in schools training

·         Int. No. 857 (Joseph), a Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to expanding disaggregated data in department of education reporting including metrics on students in foster care

·         Int. No. 928 (Hanks), a Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring the department of education to report on funding for restorative justice programming and services

·         Res. No. 422 (Paladino), a Resolution calling upon the New York City Department of Education to expand career-connected learning programs and opportunities at all public high schools

·         Res. No. 444 (Joseph), a Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S.7275/A.8210 requiring all district leadership teams to operate under open meetings law requirements

·         Res. No. 445 (Joseph), a Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S.7279/A.8196, requiring District Leadership Teams and School Leadership Teams to include student representatives

·         Res. No. 446 (Joseph), a Resolution calling upon the New York State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S.7280/A.8194, establishing the citywide leadership team

You are hereby invited to attend and testify, either in-person at City Hall, or live via Zoom.

If you plan on testifying in-person or via Zoom, please register in advance of the hearing at https://council.nyc.gov/testify/Each person who intends to testify live via Zoom should register separately. Note that Zoom links are personalized and should not be shared. Zoom links will be manually sent as the hearing date approaches.

If you plan to testify in-person, it would be greatly appreciated if you could bring twenty (20) copies double-sided of your written testimony to the hearing.

Written testimony may be submitted without registration by emailing it to testimony@council.nyc.gov or via the Council’s website at https://council.nyc.gov/testify/ up to 72 hours after the close of the hearing.
