October is New York State Application Month, a statewide effort to help your child cross the finish line and solidify their college and career applications. By now you and your child should have received a Welcome Letter from both Chancellors of City University of New York (CUNY) and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). These letters assure your child that when they graduate, they have a seat at CUNY, and can apply for FREE from October 1-31.
Additionally, there are other higher education institutions that have also waived their application fees including State University of New York (SUNY) and other private institutions.
Before the month comes to a close, we encourage your child to meet with their school counselor to discuss their plans after high school and complete their college applications, if they plan to enroll. Refer to the college and career planning family resources in your New York City Schools Account for more guidance.
