Harlem YMCA BAI Scholarship

  • In the spring of 2024, the Harlem Y will award approximately 30 scholarships to deserving New York City Youth at the 52nd Annual National Salute to Achievers in Industry (bai) Gala on March 14, 2024.

    The deadline is January 8, 2024.
    Approximately Thirty $2,500 bai Corporate Scholarships will be awarded.

    For NYC High School Seniors not enrolled in a YMCA of Greater New York Teen Program

    2024 bai Corporate Scholarship Application (HS)The Harlem Y Achievers in Industry (bai) Corporate Scholarship is awarded to New York City High School seniors who demonstrate an ability to achieve. Applicants must meet the following criteria: • Reside within the five boroughs of New York City • Possess a minimum 2.7 GPA • Be a current high school senior This is a one-time Scholarship Award of $2,500. Recipients must re-apply annually to be considered for future awards. Multiple awards will only be considered consecutively after the first year, with a maximum total of four. The Award will be sent to the recipient’s school of choice and applied toward tuition and/or room and board fees. The Award will be officially announced on March 14, 2024, at the 52nd Annual National Salute to Achievers in Industry Awards Gala, at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel – 1535 Broadway, NYC.. Students with an expressed interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Business/Finance are strongly encouraged to apply.     For NYC High School Seniors who are currently enrolled in a YMCA of Greater New York Teen Program.  Youth Achiever applicants will automatically be considered for the bai Corporate Scholarship but can only receive one scholarship.

Students with an expressed interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Business/Finance are strongly encouraged to apply. Note that an interview is part of the scholarship application process. Deadline to apply is January 8, 2024. • Each application is scored with weighted consideration given to completeness, quality of responses and overall appearance.           2. All parts of the application must be completed, and all requested documents submitted by the deadline.  Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
          3. The essay is a critical part of the application consideration.  The directions must be followed exactly with respect to subject matter, length, grammatical correctness and spacing.
          4. Letter of recommendation must be specific to this scholarship and not a generic referral. 
          5.The photograph should be a quality image.  If the scholarship is awarded, the photograph will be used in printed publications.
          6. And, if the student is invited for an interview as part of the Youth Achiever application process, the student should be advised to dress appropriately for the occasion.
