Know Your Chances of Getting a 3-K Offer!

Dear families,

Happy New Year! The 3-K application opens next Wednesday, January 10!

As you build your application, we want to help you understand your chances of getting an offer to a specific 3-K program.

Each program admits applicants in a certain order, known as priority groups. For example, most schools admit current students before other applicants. Your child falls into a specific priority group for each program. You can see each program’s priority groups and which of those groups received offers last year in the MySchools Directory using the below steps:

  1. Search for a school you are interested in and click on the school name to bring up their MySchools page.
  2. Select the program(s) you are eligible for (for example “3-K School Day”).
  3. Scroll down to the “My Chances” section, where you will see which priority groups received offers last year. You can also see how many seats the program had last year.

This information can help you understand the chances of your child’s priority group receiving an offer this spring. Offers are made based on a combination of these factors:

  • The choices you list on your child’s application
  • The seat availability at the programs you list
  • Your child’s admissions priority at the programs you list

We try our best to match families to their highest choice possible. You should list up to 12 programs of interest on your child’s application in true preference order, including programs where your child has a high priority to attend because they are a current student, have a sibling attending, or are zoned. Due to limited seats not all 3-K applicants who apply will receive an offer.

Once the application opens on MySchools, there may be times of high site traffic. Remember, 3-K admissions is not first come, first served. There is no advantage to applying on the first day- all applications received by the March 1 deadline are treated equally. If you experience delays, check back in a few hours!
