SummerStage 2024 SummerStage, New York City’s iconic outdoor performing arts festival, will hold 85 shows at parks across the five boroughs this June through October. The festival will showcase artists from across the globe, highlighting forward-thinking women pushing boundaries. Come enjoy a multitude of genres including jazz, hip-hop, indie rock, salsa, reggae, Afrobeats, soul, pop, global and contemporary dance. Harlem Big Playdate Come to an outdoor play extravaganza for little ones. Celebrate the power of play and practice important early literacy skills — all while having fun! Kids ages three and under and their parents and caregivers are invited to explore different play stations, activities and sensory experiences that promote a wide range of early learning skills. Art in the Park Let your child’s creativity flow with a wide range of craft projects for kids of all ages and abilities. Activities change week to week at this event hosted throughout the summer, so plan to come back for more fun! Fresh Air Fund Summer Camps The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit youth development organization, provides free outdoor experiences to children from New York City’s underserved communities. Applications are still open for this summer’s programs, which include: Sleepaway Camps: Children will explore the environment, learn outdoor skills and make friends at sleepaway camps in New York’s mid-Hudson Valley. These camps are available for ages 8 through 15, with offerings based on age, gender and ability. Friendly Towns: Children stay with a host family in a small town or a suburban or rural community along the East Coast. This is available for ages 8 through 14. Learn more and apply |
Apply to the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) HEAF is a college access program that provides academic enrichment, personal development, college prep and career exposure to middle and high school students from New York City’s underserved communities. HEAF makes an 11-year, fully funded commitment to students from 6th grade to college graduation. Visit HEAF’s website to learn more about their offerings, including: Summer Quest, a summer learning experience for rising 6th- through 8th- graders High Expectations, a high school prep program for middle school students College Quest, a college prep program for high school students nward, a support program for college students A Community Wellness program that provides events, education and resources to support the wellbeing of students and their families Applications for the summer and 2024-2025 school year are still open. Become a Verizon Technician Verizon is hiring field technicians in the New York City metropolitan area this summer. Job responsibilities will include testing, repairing and installing equipment and wiring to provide service to Verizon customers. These positions will be full-time with full benefits, and all employees will be given safety and skills training.
