At the May 2024 Board of Regents meeting, the New York State Education Department provided a summary of the work of the Blue Ribbon Commission of Graduation Measures and an overview of the internal work the Department engaged in since the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission were released in November of 2023. During the May meeting, the Board of Regents also approved an emergency action to amend the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to allow the conferral of posthumous high school diplomas. Additional information can be referenced in the Posthumous High School Diplomas memo.
During Monday’s Board of Regents meeting, the Department will provide an update on the vision for implementation of the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures. The presentation is scheduled to begin at 9 am. A link to the live webcast will be available at 8:30 am.
