Dear Parent Leaders,
NYC Public Schools will host on engagement session on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 6pm virtually to share proposed amendments to the Chancellor’s Regulations below.
The proposed amendments to these regulations will be voted on at the July 24 Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) meeting. This meeting will be held on July 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt Island School PS/IS 217 (645 Main Street, New York, New York, 10044).
- Chancellor’s Regulation A-411: Supporting Students in Behavioral Crisis
- Chancellor’s Regulation A-411 contains detailed information about supporting students experiencing a behavioral crisis.
- These revisions would supersede the A-411 dated May 21, 2015, and reflect updated best practices regarding intervention and de-escalation when a student is in crisis.
- The revisions require that schools must make every effort to safely intervene and de-escalate student behavior, with the goal of supporting student well-being.

- Chancellor’s Regulation A-755: Suicide Prevention
- Chancellor’s Regulation A-755 contains detailed information about supporting students who are struggling with suicidal thoughts, and about how schools must respond in the case of a suicide or suicide attempt in or affecting the school community.
- The proposed amendments will revise the prior version of the regulation and reorganize the regulation for clarity and ease of understanding.

- La Disposición del Canciller A-755 contiene información detallada sobre apoyo a estudiantes que luchan con pensamientos suicidas y sobre cómo las escuelas deben responder en caso de suicidio o intento de suicidio dentro de la comunidad escolar o su entorno.
- Las enmiendas propuestas revisarán la versión anterior del reglamento y lo reorganizarán para mayor claridad y facilidad de comprensión.
