As you are aware, the Save for College Program is a scholarship and savings program designed to make college and career training more accessible for all NYC public school students, starting in kindergarten, regardless of family income or immigration status. Citywide, nearly 280,000 students have NYC Scholarship Accounts, and over $42 million has been accumulated for their future college and career training!
The Save for College Program provides each eligible student with a NYC Scholarship Account seeded with an initial $100. Through this Program, families can earn up to $175 in additional rewards; and organizations, businesses, and other institutions can also contribute additional money to groups of these students’ NYC Scholarship Accounts through Community Scholarships. (You can check out the Save for College Program Introduction for families to get an overview of the Program.)
Throughout the city, schools have been using the Program to support their college & career readiness and family engagement goals and to advance financial education in their communities. The Program can be easily integrated into existing school operations in ways that make sense for school communities, and NYC Kids RISE provides schools and families with ongoing support and resources.
